Tax Advantage Ways to Give

SGO

Ohio taxpayers who donate to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) are able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return for up to $750 per donor (up to $1,500 for joint filers). The Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) is a certified SGO, and all three of our grade schools are participating. That means that if you pay Ohio income tax, you can choose whether you pay taxes to the State of Ohio or donate to our parish school. Please consider joining your fellow parishioners who have claimed the tax credit and donate today. Your gift will go directly to tuition assistance.

QCD

At its core, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a nontaxable transfer. It moves funds directly from a Traditional IRA to a charity. This transaction must be made directly by the IRA trustee to a qualifying charity to count as a QCD.

QCDs can satisfy RMDs (Required Minimum Distributions), which are mandatory after age 73. Importantly, this reduces the taxpayer’s Adjusted Gross Income. While QCDs are powerful, they must adhere to the guidelines set by the IRS. These include age restrictions and limits on the amount one can transfer annually.

For more information, please contact your financial advisor or a tax professional.

Bequests

We encourage all our Parishioners to think about creating wills to protect and provide for their loved ones. 70 % of adults have not created a will, and while we hope and pray to have you with us for years to come, we also don't want families to be ill prepared.

Once you have done that, we ask you to prayerfully consider including us in a gift that will have a lasting impact in our Parish community.

Please reach out with any questions, and know we consider it an honor to be considered in your planning.

DAF

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is descibed like a charitable investment account. These are created with a financial advisor to support IRS qualified Charities (like us).

If you would like to make a donation to St. Gabriel Family of Parishes through your DAF, please contact your financial advisor and provide him or her with our information.
