A courageous woman stepped forward and wiped the suffering face of Jesus as He carried His Cross to Golgotha. Tradition tells us her name was Veronica. In that moment, the true image of Christ’s face miraculously appeared on her veil, giving rise to the Latin name “Vera Icon” — the “True Image”. For centuries Christians have venerated the Holy Face as a reminder of Christ’s suffering love. In 1845, during persecution of the Church, Pope Pius IX exposed the Veronica in St. Peter’s Basilica for public prayer. Thousands witnessed the image glow and come to life — a miracle recorded by the Church. That same year artists were authorized to reproduce authenticated images of the Holy Face on white linen. These images, now more than a century old, are rare relics. Beginning March 24, Archangel Crusade of Love with St Gabriel the Archangel Family of Parishes is offering us the privilege of sharing over 30 of these relics with our families. You are invited to host one of these relics in your home for a week. Many families have experienced deeper peace, healing, and renewed prayer in their homes through this devotion. Prayer to the Holy Face: Lord Jesus, we adore Your Holy Face, wounded for our sins and filled with mercy. Draw us closer to Your Sacred Heart and bring Your peace into our homes. Amen.
